ARTIST:   Emily Loizeau
ALBUM:   Pays Sauvage
RELEASED:   2009.02.03 and/or 2009.10.20  *tears hair out*
TRACK:   #11, "In Our Dreams"
COMPOSER:   Emily Loizeau

it's a magical affair
we are carried in the air
in our dreams
and they take us by the hand
to the place where they stand
in our dreams

and they call us by our names
and they say we haven't changed
in our dreams
and we know that they don't lie
if they did they wouldn't cry
in our dreams
in our dreams
in our dreams

* and we keep them in our heart
   only sleep keeps us apart
and the wind fills our sail
and the wind fills our sail

sometimes they remain in silence
sometimes they provoke the violence
of our dreams
we are weak and they are strong
they can carry us along
in our dreams

and in everything they say
there's a rule that we obey
in our dreams
we cherish each and every word
and then we lose them and it hurts
but we know
that they live
in our dreams

* (repeat)

(oooh)
(oooh)
(we are the sailors of the dark)
(we are the sailors of the dark)

it's a magical affair
when they whisper in the air
in our dreams
and the stories that they tell
we don't know but we know well
in our dreams

and they call us by our names
and they say that we have changed
in our dreams
and we need to stay together
'cause their words we have to gather
in our dreams
in our dreams
in our dreams

*
(repeat)

[then start over again, until...whenever, apparently...]

The album track is supposedly five minutes and ten seconds long; the only reliable source for streaming I can find is a YouTube video of somebody's baby girl rolling around and being cute, and that's 05:15, and it cuts off at an odd place.  (Well, there's also the stop-motion one with Legos and traffic noises, which is awesome, but alas only 03:52; damn but I miss IMEEM.)  Ugh, and then the live performances, each of which is a completely different version of the song...  *headdesk*

[[ EDIT:  Mr. Jean-Claude Courbon was kind enough to scan the CD booklet pages containing the official lyrics!  Awesome~ ]]

Your avatar picture looks like some woods. And also a face. A female face. But also trees.
I am confused.
But also amused.
Yay tree face?

...Holy shit, I never noticed that, but now I see it too. @_@

(A few years ago I came across a picture on the Wikimedia Commons of some foggy redwoods in California, and thought it was beautiful and would crop awesomely, and made off with it. In retrospect, I probably should've made a note of the contributor...)

Pareidolia is the word for when we see things that are not technically there, like faces--in the moon, the clouds, burnt toast, etc. See also Cats That Look Like Hitler.

I indicated in it the lyrics I arrived at with the help of another french Emily's admirer. No guaranty they are correct... I copy them below :

====================================================
It's a magical affair / We are carried in the air
And they take us by the hand / In the place where they stand

And they call us by our names / And they say we haven't changed
And we know they don't lie / If they did they wouldn't cry

And we keep them in our hearts / And our sleep keeps us apart
And the wind fails our sail / And the wind fails our sail

Sometimes they remain in silence / Sometimes they provoke violence
We are weak and they are strong / They can carry us along

And in everything they say / There is a rule that we obey
We need to stay together / 'Cause their words we need to gather

We are the sailors of the dark / We are the sailors of the dark
It's a magical affair / When they whisper in the air

And the stories that they tell/ We dont't know, but we know well

Thank you so much! I never thought of "but" instead of "that" in the line about 'the stories that they tell', but I listened to the song a couple more times and you're right, that is what they're saying. Thank you for helping out!

I realize that the video indicated was posted before the release of the album "Pays Sauvage". And the booklet in the CD contains the lyrics. I scanned the pages for you, you will find them here :

Be careful, Emily is not always faithful to her own words...

How...informative. I thought you had to pick at them in order to provoke a scar? Well, you learn something new every day.
